From May 22 to 24, 2024, 30 coconut farmers from various cooperatives and associations successfully completed the Farmer-Level Training on Native Goat Production and Management (Batch 3) at MAFAR-SULU, Capitol Site, Patikul, Sulu.
The program began with a warm welcome from Mr. Jun M. Ammak, Chief Agriculturist of MAFAR-Sulu. Training Specialist II and CFIDP Focal Person for BARMM, Engr. Mokles P. Buisan, provided an insightful overview of the training, outlining its importance and objectives.
The resource person, Mr. Abdullah A. Haruddain, OIC-Superintendent of Research and Outreach Station (ROS) of MAFAR-Basilan, delivered comprehensive discussions on topics such as the potential of halal goat enterprises, pasture development, fodder crop production, housing techniques, goat breeds, nutrition, health management, and farm recording.
Participants also engaged in hands-on field exposure at the Abbas A. Jundam Farm in Patikul, Sulu, applying what they learned in a real farm setting. The training equipped farmers with the knowledge and skills necessary for goat production, further promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
