TANTANGAN, South Cotabato - The CFIDP Regional Inter-agency Technical Committee XII (RIATC XII) convened for its 6th meeting on June 19, 2024, at the Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center XII (ATI-RTC XII) in this municipality. The meeting aimed to provide updates on the accomplishments of each Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) implementing agency. The updates highlighted ongoing projects, achievements, and progress toward the objectives of the CFIDP in the region.
During the meeting, the committee presented critical issues and concerns regarding previous and ongoing CFIDP projects. Among the topics discussed were the challenges faced in coconut hybridization projects, the current financial status of CFIDP, and the site-specific programs being implemented to address local needs. These discussions allowed the agencies to address gaps in project execution and strategize solutions for more effective implementation.
The meeting also facilitated collaboration between the various agencies involved, ensuring that all stakeholders were aligned in their efforts. Representatives from agencies such as the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), the Department of Agriculture’s High-Value Crops Development Program (DA HVCDP), the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), and others, shared their progress reports, successes, and challenges encountered in the field.
Implementing agencies such as the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) also participated in the meeting. Their contributions to the CFIDP’s implementation are crucial for ensuring the financial, logistical, and infrastructural support needed to uplift the coconut industry in Region XII.
