Tantangan, South Cotabato – The Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center XII (ATI-RTC XII) officially kicked off the first day of the Dairy Cattle Production and Management training (Module 1 Batch 1) on May 20, 2025, at their facility in Brgy. San Felipe. The program gathered eager participants ready to enhance their skills and knowledge in the dairy sector, an emerging area of opportunity within the region’s agricultural landscape.
Mrs. Hannadi G. Pompong, OIC-Assistant Center Director, welcomed the participants with an encouraging message that set an optimistic and motivating atmosphere. Following this, Engr. Teofilo T. Jumawan, Jr., Planning Officer II of ATI-RTC XII, provided a comprehensive overview of the training’s objectives and structure. He also discussed the current status of the coconut industry in Region XII, emphasizing how diversification into dairy farming could provide additional livelihood options for local farmers.
The afternoon session featured Mr. Jesus Melchor P. Bertolpo, Development Management Officer II from the National Dairy Authority-Southern Mindanao. His presentation covered foundational topics including dairy farming basics, the present state of the dairy cattle industry, and key principles for successful dairy entrepreneurship. The participants ended the day inspired and equipped to explore further opportunities in dairy cattle production, marking a significant step towards agricultural diversification and economic growth in Region XII.
