The Training on Cacao-Coffee Nursery Establishment and Management, Batch 2, commenced on March 12, 2025, at the Belo Hall of ATI-RTC XII in Tantangan, South Cotabato.
Ms. Jey Ann N. Magana, Admin Officer IV and Chief of the Admin and Finance Unit, warmly welcomed the participants with an opening message, setting the stage for a productive training session. Following her remarks, Mr. Normuhaymin B. Arsad, Technical Staff of CFIDP, acknowledged the participants and outlined the training expectations. Engr. Teofilo T. Jumawan, Jr., CFIDP Alternate Focal, provided a comprehensive overview of the program, including insights into the current state of the coconut industry.
In the afternoon session, Mr. Kadafi A. Tayantis, Coffee Specialist of Mindanao Agri-Marketing Products for Sustainable Development, delved into the Agronomic Characteristics and Variety of Coffee, the Soil and Climatic Requirements of Cacao and Coffee, and the Management of Pest and Diseases. His presentation covered key topics such as cacao varieties, insect pests, and diseases that can impact both crops.
