Recently, an intensive three-day training program for new FITS (Farmers Information and Technology Services) managers and staff in Region XII and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) took place. Held at the Villa Amor Hotel in Koronadal City, South Cotabato, this training aimed to equip participants with essential skills in FITS Center operations, IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) development, and social media management.

The training began with a hands-on tutorial by John Lord Auman, Information Officer II of the Agriculture Training Institute XII (ATI-RTC XII). Auman guided the participants on accessing and utilizing the E-learning extension website for Agriculture and Fisheries, providing them with valuable digital tools to enhance their knowledge and service delivery.

In the second session, Marnil B. Del Monte, Media Production Specialist II at ATI-RTC XII, took the stage. Del Monte's discussion focused on the development of IEC materials, emphasizing effective design principles to ensure that the information disseminated is both engaging and informative. His expertise provided the participants with a solid foundation in creating impactful educational content.

The afternoon session featured Justin Garcia Aquino, Information Officer II of DA-RFO XII, who shared his extensive knowledge on social media management. Aquino's presentation covered the creation and management of social media accounts, as well as content development strategies. His insights are crucial for FITS managers and staff to effectively communicate and engage with their audience through various social media platforms.

The 26 participants were actively involved in workshops that immersed them in the creation of IEC materials and the intricacies of social media management. These hands-on activities enabled them to apply the principles and techniques discussed, ensuring a practical understanding of the concepts.

This training program, organized by ATI RTC XII, catered to two batches of participants over three days. The goal was to provide FITS managers and staff with adequate knowledge on digital transparency and effective social media management, ensuring they are well-equipped to serve their communities and promote agricultural advancements.

With the comprehensive training provided, the new FITS managers and staff are now better prepared to enhance their operational efficiency and communication strategies, ultimately benefiting the agricultural sector in Region XII and BARMM.
