The ATI-Satellite Training Center in USM, Kabacan, Cotabato hosted a transformative Regional Training of Trainers for Coconut Nursery Management, with a focused emphasis on Hybrid Seedling Production from June 26-28, 2023. This training initiative, made possible through the funding support of the Coconut Farmers and Industry Trust Fund (CITF), brought together a diverse group of participants comprising Agricultural Extension Workers, Farmer Leaders, and Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) Cooperators.
The objective of the training was to equip participants with the essential knowledge and skills required for effective coconut nursery management. Over the course of three days, the training delved into various crucial topics, including seedling selection, seedling production techniques, disease and pest management, and nursery maintenance. Through practical demonstrations and hands-on activities, participants gained valuable insights into best practices for hybrid seedling production.
The collaborative learning environment fostered during the training allowed agricultural extension workers, farmer leaders, and LSA cooperators to exchange experiences, share local knowledge, and collectively enhance their expertise in coconut nursery management. This approach ensures that the acquired knowledge can be effectively disseminated to a wider audience, benefiting coconut farmers throughout the region. By empowering participants with updated techniques and strategies, the training sets the stage for improved nursery practices and contributes to the overall development and sustainability of the coconut industry in the area.
