KABACAN, Cotabato – From June 17 to 21, 2024, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XII (ATI-RTC XII) conducted a five-day "Regional Training of Trainers on Native Cattle Production and Management" at the University of Southern Mindanao, Kabacan. The program aimed to equip 25 participants from various provinces in Region XII with essential skills in sustainable native cattle farming, focusing on feeding, breeding, and health care.
The training featured lectures from three esteemed speakers: Dr. Josephine R. Migalbin, Director of SOXAARRDEC; Dr. Jurhamid C. Imlan, Faculty member of USM Kabacan; and Dr. Mark Steven A. Stefania, Professor at USM Kabacan. Each expert provided valuable insights into cattle management, delivering practical knowledge to support the growth of the region's native cattle farming industry.
On the fourth day, participants engaged in hands-on learning with a farm visit to Alamada, North Cotabato. They observed best practices in native cattle production and learned directly from local farmers, gaining practical experience and exposure to real-world cattle management techniques.
The training program underscored the importance of native cattle production in enhancing local livelihoods and fostering sustainable agricultural practices, contributing to the economic resilience of farming communities across Region XII.
