KABACAN, Cotabato — On July 2, 2024, the Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center XII (ATI-RTC XII), in collaboration with the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) - USM and other livestock agencies, commenced its month-long Basic Training Course on Artificial Insemination (AI) for Large Ruminants. Designed for Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and village-based AI technicians, this program runs until July 31, 2024, at the ATI Satellite Training Center in Kabacan, Cotabato, involving 20 selected participants from various local government units and NDA-designated municipalities.
In her opening remarks, ATI-RTC XII OIC Center Director Dir. Shirley L. Beldia welcomed the participants, recognizing them as future field partners and catalysts in the field of Artificial Insemination. Dr. Geoffray R. Atok, Center Director of PCC-12, shared an inspiring message, encouraging participants to leverage the training to drive growth in the carabao industry across Regions XII and BARMM.
Mr. Errol Chris A. Laspiñas presented an overview of the course, outlining its objectives to provide hands-on training on AI techniques for large ruminants. Following this, Mr. Jeffrey A. Rabanal, a Senior Science Research Specialist at PCC-XII, led an informative session covering the anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive system in ruminants, equipping participants with foundational knowledge essential for successful AI practices.
This intensive training, which includes modules on pregnancy diagnosis and artificial insemination, is poised to support NDA and PCC efforts to improve cattle and carabao breeding across the regions, fostering sustainable agricultural advancements and boosting local livestock productivity.
