From September 2-13, 2024, 30 Local Farmer Technicians (LFTs), farmer leaders, and Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) from Region XII and BARMM participated in a 10-day Training of Trainers on Farm Business School (FBS). This was hosted by the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XII (ATI-RTC XII) under the RCEF Program.
The participants were welcomed by a message from Ms. Shirley L. Beldia, outgoing OIC- Center Director of ATI- RTC XII and a message of support from the newly designated OIC- Center Director of ATI- RTC XII, Dir. Jessie V. Beldia, Ph.D.
Key sessions covered crucial business topics, including financial literacy, understanding business concepts, marketing, and developing farm business plans.
Mr. Jayson V. Abang, RCEF Technical Staff, discussed the Philippines Rice Industry Situationer and Ms. Eigne Jame C. Duco of DTI- South Cotabato, gave a comprehensive discussion on Online Marketing and Selling.
Moreover, Ms. Ma. Theresa B. Laxamana, MPS II of ATI XII introduced participants to the fundamentals of farm business and financial literacy, while Mr. Noel D. Del Monte, Agricultural Technician of OMAg Tupi, discussed farming profitability and entrepreneurship.
Participants also explored marketing strategies with Ms. Agripina B. Leonico, DPA, culminating in an early morning market survey at Koronadal City Public Market. They also developed action-oriented farm business plans under the guidance of Dr. Leonico ensuring they leave the training equipped with the tools to support sustainable and profitable farm enterprises in their communities.
The initiative underscores the ATI's commitment to strengthening agricultural entrepreneurship and ensuring sustainable livelihoods for farmers in the region.
