Talipao, Sulu – Kasambuhan Family Farm in Brgy. Kuttong, Talipao, Sulu recently achieved a significant milestone by being certified as a Coco-based Learning Site for Agriculture I. The launching ceremony was held on November 28, 2024.


The event brought together key officials and stakeholders who shared their support and insights. Provincial Agriculturist Ms. Virginia P. Arreza, Municipal MAFAR Officer Djanipa Abdurasad, BARMM Regional Manager Datumanong U. Pendi, and PCA Tawi-Tawi Provincial Manager Ms. Nur-Aina B. Ingkagan delivered compelling messages highlighting the importance of agricultural development and community-driven learning initiatives.


Farmer Cooperator/ Owner of Kasambuhay Family Farm, Ms. Yahiya S. Abdulla in her acceptance message expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity and shared her visions of empowering her fellow farmers in their community with the given opportunity. The LSA Cooperator of Sasak Integrated Farm, Mr. Elmi A. Jal, LSA Cooperator of the first LSA launched in Sulu last year,  also attended the event.


The presence of key ATI officials from Region XII further underscored the significance of this launch. Ms. Hannadi S. Guiamad-Pompong, OIC-Assistant Center Director, reaffirmed ATI’s role as the implementing agency and mentioned the Kasambuhan Family Farm for setting a new benchmark in agricultural education. She was joined by Senior Agriculturist and LSA Focal Person Ms. Shirley L. Beldia, Ms. Simona P. Dela Cruz, Training Specialist III, Engr. Mokles P. Buisan, Training Specialist II, Engr. Jun Rey L. Samillano, Agriculturist II, Ms. Mercedita G. Aglibot, Development Management Officer I and Ms. Jey Ann N. Magana, Administrative Officer IV.


The site will serve as a training ground where farmers can learn techniques to maximize coconut production, develop value-added products, and adopt sustainable farming practices to enhance livelihoods. This initiative is expected to impact not just Talipao but the entire province of Sulu. As stakeholders came together in support of the program, the event symbolized hope, collaboration, and progress for agriculture in the province.
