Koronadal City — ATI-RTC XII held a specialized training session on Inbred Rice Seed Production and Certification from August 26-30, 2024, for deputized and designated seed inspectors from Region XII and BARMM. Led by OIC-Center Director Shirley L. Beldia, the program aimed to enhance inspectors' skills in ensuring high-quality rice seed production, which is essential for improving the productivity and profitability of local rice farmers.
The training kicked off with a session on the impact of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) on regional farmers, presented by Mr. Joseph Simpao, Technical Staff for the ATI-RTC XII RCEF Program. This was followed by detailed discussions on rice morphology, growth stages, and the Palay Check System by Rice Specialist Mr. Jayson Abang, providing participants with essential knowledge on seed certification standards.
Additionally, Mr. Normuhymin Arsad, Technical Staff for ATI-RTC XII’s CFIDP Program, highlighted the vital practices in land preparation and crop establishment, underscoring key methods for optimal crop growth and yield. This training equips seed inspectors to support the region's rice industry by promoting quality assurance and consistency in rice seed production, fostering a reliable seed supply that directly benefits local farmers.
