Tantangan, South Cotabato - To elevate the practices in agricultural livestock farming and promote environmental sustainability, the Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center XII is currently conducting a Training on Climate Smart Livestock Farming System from April 9 to 11, 2025 at 4-H Hall, ATI- RTC XII, San Felipe, Tantangan, South Cotabato.
Participants from various provinces in Region XII, composed of Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs), farmers, and agri-entrepreneurs, gathered to enhance their knowledge and skills in climate-resilient livestock farming approaches.
On the first day of the training, Mr. John Lord L. Auman, OIC-ISS Chief, warmly welcomed the participants on behalf of OIC-Center Director Dr. Jessie V. Beldia. He emphasized the crucial role of understanding climate-related factors in sustainable livestock farming. This was followed by an overview of the training course presented by Mr. Errol Chris A. Laspiñas, Agriculturist I and Livestock Focal Person.
One of the highlights of the session was the lecture of Dr. Vic Laurence P. Oliva, Associate Professor I from the University of Southern Mindanao, who discussed Good Animal Husbandry Practices and the Production of Organic Farming Inputs for Livestock. Participants were highly engaged, actively raising questions and sharing their experiences in organic and climate-resilient practices.
To complement the learning session, participants also had a hands-on experience on organic concoction preparation, led by Mr. Laspiñas.
