Training on FeedNovation: A Showcase of Alternative FeedStuff and Silage Making for the AEWs and LSA Cooperators in Region XII and BARMM held August 5-9, 2024 at DA-ATI-Satellite Training Center, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.

Resource person Dr. Josephine R. Migalbin discussed the Updates on Feed Production in the Philippines, Alternative Feeds and Feed Safety, Feeding Management, Forage Establishment, and management during days 1 to 3. Additionally, Dr. Migalbin led the practical silage-making at the Philippine Carabao Center.

On Day 2, Dr. Julius Jerome G. Ele shared and discussed Alternative ways of production, propagation, and processing of feedstuff. He also tackled the feed formulation using the Pearson square and the trial & error method.

On Day 4, Dr. Mary Joy S. Cañolas, shared and discussed the common Alternative feeds in the Philippines, additionally she led the actual feed processing using a starter ration of poultry. Afterward, the participants took part in a moving exam wherein they identified common forages, grasses, and raw materials of feed ingredients.

On Day 5, the participants got the opportunity to benchmark in the local feedmill plant located at Midsayap, Cotabato, namely the Saranay Feedmill and Freewill Feedmill. They learned the basic composition of feed ingredients and the different stages of production.

This training was facilitated by ATI-RTC XII Livestock Focal and Agriculturist II, Johnny Pasaquian, Alternative Livestock Focal and Technical Staff, Mr. Errol Chris Laspinas, and Technical Staff Engr. Victor Canlas of ATI-RTC XII.
