The Agricultural Training Institute-Region XII (ATI-RTC XII) successfully hosted the LeMMCAP XII Meeting on June 7, 2024, gathering Municipal Agriculturists (MAs) from across Region XII. The event was highlighted by the presence of Ms. Risalina Quiros, the National LeMMCAP President, who provided vital updates and insights on the organization’s plans and key national initiatives.
Ms. Quiros presented the major focus areas for LeMMCAP at the national level, emphasizing strategies to advocate for the Magna Carta for Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and agriculturists. She underscored the organization’s dedication to enhancing the welfare of farmers while promoting the professional development of agricultural practitioners nationwide.
A notable part of her address included the recent discussions with Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr., where Ms. Quiros outlined how LeMMCAP and the DA are working together to resolve pressing issues affecting the agriculture sector. These collaborations aim to enhance the support and services available to farmers, ensuring a more robust and responsive agricultural system.
The League of Municipal Agriculturists, Municipal Agricultural Officers, and City Agriculturists of the Philippines (LeMMCAP) continues to serve as a key ally in agricultural extension services, working closely with local communities to foster rural development. Their efforts contribute to empowering farmers, fishers, rural women, and youth, promoting a more inclusive and sustainable approach to agricultural growth in the country.
