Koronadal City, South Cotabato – On May 27, 2025, the second day of the five-day Training on Farm Business School (FBS) for Corn-Based Business Enterprises brought participants into immersive, real-world learning experiences organized by the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center XII (ATI-RTC XII). The activities aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of practical agribusiness strategies through exposure visits and market-based data collection.

The day opened with a benchmarking activity at Amar Primeval Farm, owned and managed by Mr. Mario Amar. Participants observed the farm’s integrated corn production system, taking note of how Mr. Amar effectively utilizes land, labor, and inputs to sustain a productive and profitable farm. His willingness to share farming practices and business insights provided valuable takeaways for participants aspiring to replicate similar models in their communities.

Returning from the field, Mrs. Shirley L. Beldia facilitated a reflective session focusing on core Filipino values such as dedication, cooperation, and resilience. These cultural traits were emphasized as key drivers in cultivating a strong entrepreneurial mindset necessary for long-term success in agricultural enterprises.

In the afternoon, the participants moved to the Koronadal City Public Market to conduct a market survey. With guidance from Mr. Rey Legarte, Executive Assistant from the City Mayor’s Office, they gathered firsthand information on consumer preferences, pricing, and competition. The exercise helped participants understand the significance of market intelligence in developing responsive and viable agribusiness plans.

Through this combination of field exposure, values formation, and practical market research, the training continues to equip corn farmers and stakeholders with the tools and perspectives needed to transform their farming practices into sustainable business ventures.
