The Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center XII, in partnership with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist through Province-led Agriculture and Fishery Extension System (PAFES), just recently concluded facilitated a 3-day training program on the Digital Farmers Program (DFP) in support to South Cotabato PAFES held from May 28-30, 2025 at the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Koronadal City, South Cotabato.


This initiative aims to equip farmers with the knowledge and skills necessary to harness the power of digital agriculture and cutting-edge technologies. The training covered a range of topics, with a primary focus on the Digital Farmers Program and drone technology, including demonstration and actual operation. Participants were given hands-on experience in using drones for agricultural purposes, such as Seed Spreading, Fertilizer Spraying, and Pesticides/Herbicides Application. 


Resource Persons were Ms. Marnil B. Del Monte – Media Production Specialist II of DA-ATI RTC XII who talk through the topics on Introduction to Smart Agriculture, Internet Safety Basics, Basic Agri Application, QR Code Technology, Media Marketing, Advanced Agri Applications, Advanced social media marketing, Digital Transactions/ Online Payments, e-Commerce Flatforms, Smart Agriculture Technologies (SATS) for Crop Management., Crop Establishment, Weed Management, and Weather Management. Mr. Engr. Jeffry A. Cocjin – Agriculturist I of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist confer about the topic on Drone Technology Demonstration: Drone seeding, Fertilizer spreading and Pesticide/ Herbicide Application.


The DFP is designed to empower farmers by providing them with access to digital tools and platforms that can help improve their productivity, efficiency, and decision-making. By leveraging technology, farmers can gain valuable insights into their crops, soil, and weather conditions, enabling them to make data-driven decisions and optimize their farming practices. 


During the closing program, three participants shared their heartfelt impressions and insights, expressing how much they appreciated the valuable knowledge they gained throughout the training.


Senior Agriculturist – FOD – Ms. Maylin B. Delos Santos of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, orchestrated during the closing program and deliver a closing message hypothesizing the relevance of Digital Farming that could be beneficial as part of the new normal in improving farmers productivity.
