The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) XII recently conducted a comprehensive 5-day training program on Rice Value Adding and Processing for Rice Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) in Region XII. The program was attended by 24 AEWs and featured a series of hands-on sessions aimed at enhancing their skills in rice utilization.

OIC-Center Director of ATI XII, Shirley S. Beldia, opened the program with a heartfelt address, expressing her gratitude to the participants for their ongoing commitment to providing quality services to local farmers. Her words set a positive tone for the training, underscoring the importance of collaboration in advancing agricultural practices.

On the second day of the training, the participants, along with the Karakasa Zumba Dance Troupe, engaged in practical workshops led by Abigail May Garcia, a Professional Food Technologist. The hands-on sessions covered the production of various rice-based products, including Rice Kropek, Rice Crackers, Rice Polvoron, and Rice Ampao. These activities provided valuable skills and techniques for transforming rice into diverse, marketable products.

The training's goal is to empower AEWs with the knowledge and expertise needed to promote rice as a viable livelihood product among farmers. By demonstrating innovative ways to add value to rice, the program aims to support agricultural development through practical and holistic approaches.
