Sumangday, Panglima Sugala, Tawi-Tawi – The Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center XII (ATI-RTC XII), in collaboration with CFIDP BARMM, successfully concluded the fourth Farmer-Level Training on the Coconut-Coffee System from May 21 to 23, 2025. The three-day training brought together 30 farmers aiming to enhance their expertise in integrated coconut and coffee farming.

The event opened with a warm welcome from Mr. Nurdin A. Laja, Senior Agriculturist of PCA-Tawi-Tawi, followed by Mr. Mokles P. Buisan, Alternate Focal Person for CFIDP BARMM, who emphasized the training’s goal of strengthening coffee production to drive economic growth, improve household incomes, and promote social equity. His message reinforced the importance of valuing acquired knowledge for long-term community benefit.

Central to the training was Mr. Engking J. Zakilan of MAFAR-Sulu, who led a series of lectures covering the history of coffee, market dynamics, propagation techniques, farm management, harvesting practices, and financial planning for coffee cultivation. His sessions gave participants a holistic view of how coffee can be developed into a viable farm enterprise alongside coconuts.

The training concluded with Mr. Buisan acknowledging the participants’ active involvement and encouraging them to apply what they learned in their respective farms. The activity was facilitated by Mr. Buisan, together with Merzaq A. Ulama (CFIDP Technical Staff) and Kristelle Ann L. Flotibles (Admin Support Staff). Through this initiative, ATI-RTC XII continues to foster rural development by promoting sustainable and profitable farming systems for coconut growers in BARMM.
