Makilala, Cotabato – The Farmers’ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center in Makilala, Cotabato, marked a significant milestone with its official re-inauguration, reaffirming its commitment to providing valuable agricultural services and information to local farmers.

Engr. Juanita C. Manzano, Agriculturist II of the Municipal Agriculture Services Office (MASO), represented Municipal Agriculturist Venancia Bangot and warmly welcomed guests and participants. She emphasized the event as a platform to showcase the municipality’s value-added agricultural products. Agricultural Technologist Aisa Lano also acknowledged the presence of key agricultural stakeholders, municipal officials, and representatives from the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI).

Municipal Councilor Hon. Romnick Cabaron delivered a message of support from the local government, highlighting its commitment to agricultural development in Makilala. Meanwhile, Hannadi Guiamad-Pompong, OIC-Center Director of ATI-RTC XII, assured the FITS Center of ATI’s continuous support in enhancing its services and capabilities.

John Lord Auman, OIC-Chief of the Information Services Section (ISS) of ATI, provided updates on the Techno Gabay Program, upcoming training opportunities, and potential enhancements to strengthen the FITS Center’s role in technology dissemination.

A key highlight of the event was the launching of localized IEC materials, including the Pinakbet Production Guide, which offers farmers essential knowledge on cultivating talong (eggplant), okra, sitaw (string beans), and kalabasa (squash).

FITS Center Manager Romualdo Tomarse, Jr., expressed gratitude to attendees and ATI for its unwavering support, pledging to sustain and enhance the center’s operations for the benefit of the farming community.

The afternoon session featured an e-Learning Briefing for the OJTs, equipping them with knowledge on digital agricultural resources and online learning platforms to enhance their skills in agricultural extension services.

With this re-inauguration, FITS Center Makilala is poised to further strengthen its role as a hub for agricultural information and innovation, supporting farmers in adopting modern and sustainable farming practices.
