Norala, South Cotabato – The Municipality of Norala celebrated its 18th Kamayadan Festival and 7th Farmer’s Day Celebration, recognizing the invaluable contributions of local farmers to food security and agricultural development last March 7, 2025 at Rizal Gymnasium, this town.
Hon. Leonard Vincent A. Lida, SB Member and Committee Chair on Agriculture, welcomed the guests and farmers, expressing gratitude for their dedication. “Ang mga mangunguma ang salandigan sang atong banwa. Madamo nga salamat sa pagpasiguro nga ang pamilya naton may ara gid sang pagkaon,” he said, emphasizing the farmers’ crucial role in sustaining communities.
Municipal Agriculturist Sammie B. Barrera, MPA, acknowledged the participants, followed by a message of support from the Vice Mayor of Norala, who underscored the farmers’ role in nation-building and the municipality’s progress.
OIC-Chief of the Information Services Section of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Mr. John Lord L. Auman, delivered an inspirational message, addressing the challenges faced by the agricultural sector. He highlighted how government agencies like ATI can assist through training, capacity-building, internships, and scholarships. He assured the farmers of ATI’s continued support in enhancing their skills and improving agricultural productivity.
The event also featured participation from various private agricultural companies, which showcased their products and services. The FITS Center of OPAg South Cotabato contributed by distributing rice-related information, education, and communication (IEC) materials.
A highlight of the celebration was the Pinaka Contest, which recognized outstanding local farm produce, along with the Farmers’ Dance Contest, which added a festive spirit to the gathering.
The 7th Farmer’s Day Celebration reaffirmed Norala’s commitment to empowering its farmers, recognizing their hard work, and ensuring continuous agricultural development in the region.
