Twenty-five Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and Poultry Raisers recently completed a comprehensive five-day Training of Trainers (TOT) on Layer Chicken Production and Management. The training took place from March 18-22, 2024, at ATI-RTC XII in San Felipe, Tantangan, South Cotabato.

The opening program on March 18, 2024, began with a warm greeting from Agriculturist II and Livestock Focal, Johnny H. Pasaquian, who welcomed the participants and set the stage for an enriching learning experience.

Resource Speaker Precious Amor Beso-Ferrer, MSAS, shared her extensive expertise in the chicken egg industry, focusing on production and technology practices, housing management, facilities, and feeding management. Dr. Bernardo C. Cababat, DVM, provided insights into record-keeping practices, best practices in layer chicken production, and the economics of poultry farming. Dr. Melissa Marie Bautista, Ed.D., contributed with a lecture on transformational leadership aimed at enhancing the quality of service among AEWs in the government sector.

A highlight of the training occurred on March 21, 2024, when participants visited Feta Integrated Farm in South Sepaka, Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat. This benchmarking activity allowed them to observe firsthand the best practices employed by the farm in managing layer chicken production.

The closing program on March 22, 2024, featured Ms. Hannadi Guiamad Pompong, Chief of the Information Services Section, who congratulated the participants on their successful completion of the training. She expressed gratitude to all the participants for their active participation and commitment throughout the five-day program.

Mr. Errol Chris A. Laspiñas, technical staff and Alternate Livestock Focal, facilitated the training, ensuring that participants gained practical knowledge and skills essential for optimizing layer chicken production practices.
