From June 10-12, 2024, the Training on Native Chicken Production and Management was successfully conducted at Barangay Panglima Misuari, Indanan, Sulu. The program aimed to enhance participants' knowledge and skills in native chicken production, with a focus on practical techniques to improve farm productivity.
Agriculturist I, Mr. Richard M. Jaafar, served as the main resource speaker, sharing his valuable experience and expertise in raising native chickens. His insights were pivotal in equipping participants with essential skills, such as proper feeding, housing, and health management for poultry.
The training was made possible through a collaboration between the ATI-RTC XII, headed by OIC-Center Director Shirley L. Beldia, and the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Program (CFIDP) in the BARMM, represented by Engr. Mokles P. Buisan. It was conducted in partnership with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA-Sulu), led by PE-CDO Alfahar S. Saiddi, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR-Indanan), under the leadership of MMO Farhan M. Hassan. Local government support was provided by BLGU-Panglima Misuari, with Chairman Hon. Johnson J. Misuari sharing words of encouragement and solidarity with the participants.
The training was attended by 30 participants from three cooperatives: Sasak Integrated Farm, Jatih Tunggal, and Kutu Mag-uuma Cooperative. During the closing ceremony, Mr. Elmi A. Jal, owner of Sasak Integrated Farm, praised the farmers for their hard work and dedication throughout the three-day program. He highlighted the participants' eagerness to learn and improve their poultry production efforts.
This training, facilitated by Technical Staff Mr. Mubarak M. H. Salic, was part of ongoing efforts to empower farmers and strengthen the local poultry industry, with funding provided by the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Program.
