KABACAN, Cotabato — From June 24 to 28, 2024, the Agricultural Training Institute - RTC XII held its first VetWonder: Advanced Technical Skills Development Training for Veterinarians, offering Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits to regional and BARMM veterinarians. The event, hosted at the Agricultural Training Institute - Satellite Training Center at the University of Southern Mindanao, equipped participating veterinarians with 18 CPD points and introduced them to cutting-edge veterinary practices, reinforcing their role in bolstering the livestock sector.
On the second day, ATI-RTC XII OIC Center Director Shirley L. Beldia visited the training, where she expressed her appreciation for the veterinarians’ dedication and underscored the importance of their work as essential partners in livestock health and development. Her message highlighted the training’s role in strengthening the veterinary field within the community.
Dr. Judith Z. Tattao, a seasoned Veterinarian III from DA-RFO XII, led an insightful session on advancements in ruminant production, innovative bio-dewormers for small ruminants, and critical veterinary public health measures, providing participants with the latest knowledge in animal health management. Her focus on sustainable and modernized animal care resonated strongly with the participants, fostering an engaging learning environment.
The day continued with Dr. Fitzgerald Duco, Agricultural Center Chief I, covering topics such as fixed-time artificial insemination, ultrasound techniques for reproductive assessment, and guidelines on Good Animal Husbandry Practices (GAHP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for food safety. The session concluded with hands-on training at the Philippine Carabao Center, empowering veterinarians with practical skills in advanced animal care techniques, furthering their capacity to implement these methods in their respective fields.
