LOS BAÑOS, Laguna – The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) proudly sponsored and anchored a SkillsLab Session during the 1st Asia-Pacific Young Farmers Camp and Agrilympics held today, August 15, 2024, in this town.
The session, led by ATI-RTC XII’s Information Officer II, Mr. John Lord Auman, focused on "Bridging the Digital Divide through ATI's Digital Farmers Program (DFP)." This initiative, launched in June 2019 in partnership with Smart Communications, Inc., aims to equip farmers and youth with essential digital skills, aligning with the Philippine government's push for advanced agricultural technology adoption.
Mr. Auman detailed the DFP's structured, ladderized approach, which includes three levels: DFP 101 (Beginner), DFP 102 (Intermediate), and DFP 103 (Advanced). Participants gained valuable insights into how the program trains farmers in using basic digital tools such as social media, climate and weather apps, and online payment systems. These skills help farmers make informed decisions, improve market access, and enhance their livelihoods.
In addition to the DFP, the session provided an opportunity for participants to explore the ATI's e-Extension Program and Advanced Social Marketing Lesson, leading them to obtain their own e-Learning Certificates and creating their own social media contents, respectively. 
Meanwhile, LSA Owner of Mushroom City from Bukidnon Mr. Edsel James Quemado inspired the attendees by sharing his success story. He highlighted the importance of story telling in marketing agricultural products online. 
As of June 2024, the DFP has successfully conducted 460 sessions nationwide, empowering approximately 10,428 Filipino farmers and youth participants. This ongoing effort highlights ATI's commitment to advancing agricultural technology and bridging the digital divide in the farming community.
Among the attendees are young farmers from Samoa, Fiji Islands, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Philippines.
