The DA Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XII, through its Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP), successfully conducted the first batch of the Training on Coconut Integrated Pest Management in BARMM from September 11-13, 2024 in Brgy. Buansa, Indanan, Sulu.
The training aimed to enhance participants' knowledge and skills in coconut production technologies, with a focus on Integrated Pest Management (IPM), combining both theoretical and practical approaches.
Notable attendees included PCA Tawi-Tawi and Sulu Division Chief-I Nur-Aina B. Ingkagan, Brgy. Chairman of Buansa, Indanan, Sulu Hon. Salip Al-Sinal T. Jainal, and former Mayor of Indanan, Sulu Salip Aloy A. Jainal. Division Chief-I Ingkagan provided insights into the CFIDP and the Philippine coconut industry, while Brgy. Chairman Jainal warmly welcomed the participants. Former Mayor Jainal shared a message of encouragement and wisdom with the attendees.
Senior Agriculturist Nurdin A. Laja served as the resource person, delivering sessions on coconut morphology, physiology, varietal selection, pest and disease management, intercropping, and planting techniques.
During the closing program, Ms. Ingkagan expressed her gratitude for the support of PCA and commended ATI XII for organizing the training in Buansa. Former Mayor Jainal and Brgy. Chairman Jainal also expressed their appreciation for the successful event.
The training was organized by Training Specialist II and CFIDP Alternate Focal Person Engr. Mokles P. Buisan, with support from Technical Staff Mubarak M. H. Salic and Admin Support Staff Merzaq A. Ulama.
