Vegetable growers from Lebak, Sultan Kudarat, participated in a specialized Technical Briefing on Bulb Onion Production and Management, which integrated Gender and Development (GAD) perspectives. Held on October 16-17, 2024, this two-day training session was facilitated by Mr. Neiven Jay V. Abila, a seasoned expert in onion cultivation.
The training aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of best practices in onion production, including crop management, pest control, and market strategies. Additionally, it focused on raising awareness of gender identities, addressing gender development stereotypes, and educating participants on GAD legal mandates. By incorporating these GAD principles, the training sought to foster a more inclusive agricultural community where diverse perspectives and equitable opportunities are prioritized.
This initiative was made possible with the support of the Lebak Municipal Agriculture Office, under the leadership of Municipal Agriculturist Mr. Rene L. Sanchez. Ms. Mercedita G. Aglibot, HVCDP Focal Person, led the coordination of the event, along with her team member Ms. Anareystel P. Lape. Their collaborative efforts ensured that the training was a success, equipping local farmers with both technical and social knowledge to enhance their productivity and inclusivity in the agricultural sector.
