Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat – A three-day training on Corn and Livestock Production Systems in Support of Gender and Development (GAD), held from December 4 to 6, 2024, brought together thirty corn farmers, fostering knowledge-sharing and skills enhancement in sustainable agricultural practices.

Municipal Agriculturist Engr. Soraima P. Akmad opened the event with an inspiring message, emphasizing the importance of gender-inclusive development in agriculture. She highlighted the transformative potential of integrating modern practices in corn and livestock production to uplift farmers' livelihoods.

Technical Staff Ms. Gladys Hazel E. Cafe conducted a comprehensive session on corn morphology, growth stages, and production practices, equipping participants with essential techniques to optimize crop yields. This was followed by an in-depth discussion on integrated pest management led by Ms. Jovellena B. Simbulan. Her session provided practical strategies for identifying and controlling pests and diseases, ensuring healthier and more productive corn crops.

The training aimed not only to improve the technical expertise of farmers but also to encourage sustainable practices that align with gender-sensitive approaches in agricultural development. By the end of the program, participants expressed renewed confidence in applying these practices to enhance their production systems, signaling a step forward in the journey toward inclusive and sustainable agricultural progress in Palimbang.
