In continued support of women's empowerment and gender equality this March, ATI-RTC 02 conducted the Serbisyong Sagad sa GAD: Training on Mainstreaming Gender and Development from March 25-27, 2024, hosted at the ATI-RTC 02-Cabagan Center, Isabela State University, Cabagan, Isabela. The training engaged ATI staff members.
The Center's initiative aimed to integrate Gender and Development (GAD) principles into its programs and operations, hence the significance of this training. Shared by resource persons Ms. Liberty B. Barcena and Atty. Kymverlie P. Mallo from the Department of the Interior and Local Government-Region 2, the training covered diverse topics including gender concepts, gender mainstreaming, gender-fair language, the Anti-Rape Law and Safe Space Act, and the Magna Carta of Women.
A key aspect of the training was the workshop on the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines checklist. This facilitated an assessment of the gender-responsiveness scores of the Center’s training programs.
“This is the perfect time for us to really mainstream gender and development in our office. Ang lahat ng contribution niyo ay malaking bagay para ang ating opisina ay patuloy pa ring nagbibigay ng serbisyong sagad. With this training, I hope na lalo nating paigtingin ang ating serbisyo at ibigay atng best,” reminded Dr. Claris M. Alaska, OIC-Center Directo, during her response message.
Throughout the 3-day training, participants expressed shifts in their perspectives on gender equality, as highlighted during the closing program.
“Ang masasabi ko sa training na ito ay napakaganda ng halimbawa para sa kalalakihan at kababaihan para walang magiging gender bias,” said Rolly Vea, one of the participants.
Recognizing Gender Equality as a fundamental goal of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Center reaffirms its commitment to advancing this goal by institutionalizing GAD within its framework and by providing the best service for our stakeholders.
