Thirty extension managers from the local governments of Region 02 participated in the Leadership Training for Extension Managers organized by Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 02 (ATI-RTC 02)on May 21 to May 23, 2025, at Baybay Beach in Dinalungan, Aurora.

The goal of this training was to enhance the leadership skills of 17 Municipal Agriculturists and 13 Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs), necessary for their transition from field implementers to transformational leaders. Lectures, group discussions and team exercises were used to strengthen the participants’ understanding of themselves, communication, decision-making, and supervisory competencies.

In her opening message, OIC-Center Director Dr. Claris Marayag-Alaska emphasized on the challenges that Municipal Agriculturists faced upon, urging support for their staff management and solving client issues. According to her, this training is a response to reality in order to help them grow as grassroots leaders.

Two renowned trainers Bishop Wilrey C. Reñen and Bishop Jeffrey Dumlao, who are partners of the Civil Service Commission, took charge of the sessions. Bishop Reñen highlighted that motivation, coaching and conflict resolution are important parts of team management. At the same time, Bishop Dumlao tackled on building connections and communication, drawing from his leadership experience in cooperatives.

Participants also reflected on their faith and personal development during the sessions. Several attendees expressed gratitude for the training’s spiritual and professional impact. Jhimcelle V. Salvador, the CDMS Chief, acknowledged how involved everyone is in their busy schedules and reminded them to seek advice from God while serving as leaders.

The activity settled with a transformed sense of purpose, deeper friendship among participants, and a cooperative commitment to servant leadership in their respective municipalities.
