The Province-led Agriculture and Fishery Extension System (PAFES) Regional Program Management Team presented the PAFES to Governor Jose Gambito yesterday, July 4, 2023. It was held at the Governor's Office, Capitol, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

Dr. Roberto Busania, Regional Technical Director for Operations of DA RFO 2 together with Dr. Claris Alaska, Assistant Center Director of ATI-RTC 2 discussed the modality, which was embraced by the governor. The modality will harmonize the fragmented extension services of different agencies. In his presentation, Dr. Busania emphasized that all programs and services of the government and non-government agencies for the farming and fishing communities must be properly coordinated with the province, which the governor agreed. The modality is in support of the implementation of the devolution. "With the PAFES, the PLGU will be aware of and will help coordinate all the programs and services of other agencies that will be implemented in the province especially in the communities," Governor Gambito said.

Dr. Alaska also mentioned that funds will be transferred to the province for the PAFES implementation this year particularly on extension activities included in the Collaborative Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Extension Program, which is one of the expected outputs of PAFES.

As a result of the discussion, Governor Gambito instructed the Provincial Agriculturist, Mr Absalom Rizal Baysa to fasttrack the memorandum of agreement and the executive order for the PAFES implementation.

Dr. Christopher Seraspi, Provincial Veterinarian of Nueva Vizcaya, Ms. Sheila Marie Orpilla, Chief of Institutional Development Section of DA RFO 2, Dr. Anna Liza Claveron, Partnership and Accreditation Services Section and Ms Mayflor Macmac, Planning Officer of ATI-RTC 2 and the planning officer of OPA Nueva Vizcaya were also present during the meeting.
