With the aim to strengthen its community relations especially those Communities among the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantage Areas (GIDAS), the 2nd Isabela Provincial Mobile Force Company (2nd IPMFC) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Cauayan City, Isabela partnered with the Agricultural Training Institute for the conduct of joined Urban Gardening Seminar on August 3, 2023, at Barangay Alinam of the said city.

The seminar was participated by barangay officials, barangay policemen and personnel of the 2nd IPMFC led by Force Commander PLTCOL Dennis M. Pamor.

The training aims to explain the importance of urban gardening, discuss the concepts and benefits of urban gardening, identify the different types of urban food production and exhibit skills in the preparation of the selected Natural Farming Inputs.

The establishment of community-based food gardens is one of the components of the DA-ATI food security program which aims to showcase basic food production using various technologies in the community and encourage every household to engage in home gardening.

The 25 participants underwent lectures and hands-on activities on Urban gardening, concept and benefits of urban gardening, types of urban garden, Natural Farming Input (NFIs) Preparation and Vermicomposting.

The PNP of Alinam were also happy for the opportunity given by the ATI to their unit and is expected to establish a garden in their area. PCPT. Teresito Calimpusan, Jr., said, "On behalf of our Force Commander PLTCOL AVELINO CANCERAN, Jr., we express our heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity given to us by the ATI especially to the leadership of Director Imelda Guillermo in giving us the technical knowledge on the training of Urban Gardening. It has a great impact on our personnel and community in providing innovative sources of food thru technological gardening. The lecturer shared a lot of information and easy understanding lectures. Maraming salamat po." "Maraming salamat po, sir, sa collaborative efforts niyo in giving us well-understood lectures and demonstrations. Hoping na tuloy-tuloy ang magandang samahan ng ating agencies. Maraming salamat po."

The participants also received a different variety of seeds from ATI-RTC 02. The vegetable seeds, seedlings and garden tools were expected to be planted at the backyard garden of the participants.

The barangay officials of San Francisco, Alicia Isabela, extends its gratefulness to ATI. He said, "Agyaman kami la unay apo ti intulong yu idtoy kabarangayak, umasa kayo nga pagyayamanin mi dagutoy nga inpaay yu nga pagsiyatan, ken da Sir Ricky at Sir Cupido, agyaman kami kadagitoy lecture yu. Adu naawatan me, magamit me dagitoy nga knowledge ti panangrugi me nga agmula ti nateng. Maraming salamt po sa ATI,” Kagawad Martin M. Mauricio, said.
