The Agricultural Training Institute Regional Training Center 2 completed a training course on Project Proposal Development and Report Writing for newly appointed Magsasaka Siyentista in Region 2. The workshop, which took place from June 25 to 27, 2024, aimed to provide farmer-scientists with the skills needed to draft excellent project proposals and detailed reports, which are critical for the progress of agricultural practices and innovations in the region.
The three-day event was attended by 27 Magsasaka Siyentista from Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino. Participants learned about the important components of a project proposal, such as problem identification, goal formulation, approach design, and budgeting, from specialists from the Agricultural Credit Policy Council and Department of Science and Technology Region 2.
The topics also included report structure, good data presentation, appropriate language and style, social media marketing, and a lesson on digital tools for IEC packaging. Also, they had a hands-on activity on Canva and Cupcat editing to improve product packaging and promote their farms on social media.
As part of the training program, participants got the opportunity to visit Learning Sites for Agriculture in the region owned by Magsasaka Siyentista, including JICA's Technical and Vocational Institute, Inc., which is owned by Sangguniang Bayan Hon. Jomar Jarvina of Cabatuan, Isabela the re-appointed Regional President of Magsasaka Siyentista in Region 2; R and D Oliveros Institute of Technology and Agri-Tourism Corporation, owned by Engr. Ramon Oliveros in Roxas, Isabela, the newly appointed Regional Vice President of Magsasaka Siyentista in the region and A.R. Santiago Fish Farm Farmer's Field School, owned by Mr. Arnel Santiago of San Mateo, Isabela. These tours allowed participants to see successful agricultural methods and technologies in action, providing practical examples of how theoretical information may be used in real-world situations.
“Salamat sa training dahil nagkaroon po ako ng mga bagong kaibigan na makakatulong sa akin at pwede ko rin tulungan kung kinakailangan. Natututo akong magcapcut at mag Canva for advertising. Natuto ako sa kahalagahan ng report at record keeping at project proposal. Ipagpatuloy po ninyo ang staff ng ATI ang inyong magandang adhikain” said Mr. Jesther Caranay, Magsasaka Siyentista from Delfin, Albano, Isabela.
The successful completion of this program is an important step in improving Magsasaka Siyentista's skills in Region 2. ATI-RTC 2 hopes to develop a culture of innovation and continual improvement in the agricultural sector by providing people with necessary skills, which will ultimately help farmers and communities around the region.
