In celebration of the National Rice Awareness and Organic Agriculture Month, a gift-giving was conducted in Brgy. Caniogan Abajo Norte, Sto. Tomas, Isabela today, November 4, 2022.
The gift giving is part of spreading awareness on RICEponsible rice consumption by valuing every grain of rice and eating healthier food among residents in the said barangay. Part of the package received by the residents include white rice alternatives such as brown rice and banana.
Moreover, the activity is part of the month-long celebration in the region spearheaded by DA-PhilRice Isabela, ATI Region 2, DA Cagayan Valley and BPI-NSQCS.
Under Proclamation No. 524, s. 2014, NRAM is held every November to raise public awareness on rice, tackle malnutrition and poverty, and achieve rice self-sufficiency.
Starting this year until 2028, the annual celebration of National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM) will bear the theme “Be RICEponsible”.
