
Thirty farmer-leaders from different farmers' cooperatives and associations in the region have successfully completed the three-day training on the utilization of biological control agents for corn production held on May 26-28, 2025 at ATI-RTC 02, ISU Compound, Garita, Cabagan, Isabela. They were equipped with knowledge, skills and attitude on the use of sustainable pest management techniques to reduce reliance on chemical pesticides and promote Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

Different approaches were employed during the training, ensuring that participants can effectively absorbed the information while actively engaging in discussions and activities. Likewise, the activity incorporated with knowledge sharing between the resource persons and participants that made the training more engaging and interactive.
Subject matter specialist from ATI-RTC 02 and DA-RCPC delivered comprehensive sessions on IPM particularly on physical or mechanical, cultural and biological control strategies for managing insect pests and diseases affecting corn. To reinforce the concepts and principles of IPM, a field practicum was conducted, providing participants with hands-on experience in the proper use and application of various biological control agents.

The integration of theoretical knowledge with practical application made the training both engaging and impactful. Participants expressed their appreciation for the valuable skills they acquired, particularly in the utilization of BCAs.
