The Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) Regional Implementing Agencies Committee (RIATC) conducted its final meeting and year-end assessment for 2024 on December 10-11 at ATI RTC-02, Malasin, San Mateo, Isabela.
A total of 36 representatives from various regional implementing agencies under the CFIDP gathered to review the outcomes of their collective efforts and discuss future directions. Participating agencies included the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) from Regions 1, 2, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), ATI Region 2, the Department of Agriculture’s High Value Crops Development Program (DA HVCDP), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), and the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech), Local Government Units (LGUs), Farmers’ Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) and other key stakeholders also participated in the meeting, emphasizing the multi-sectoral collaboration that underpins the CFIDP’s success.
Over the course of the two-day event, representatives from the implementing agencies presented their accomplishments for 2024, providing insights into their ongoing initiatives, challenges faced, and lessons learned. Additionally, the meeting featured the presentation of a proposed development plan for 2025 outlining the strategic direction for the coconut industry.
Participants were also given the opportunity to offer suggestions and ask questions about the proposed plans, further enriching the development framework for the future.
As the coconut industry enters a new year, stakeholders remain committed to advancing the goals set forth by the CFIDP, ensuring the sustainable development and growth of the sector for the benefit of the millions of Filipino coconut farmers who rely on it for their livelihoods.
