The Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center III surveyed 333 farmers and 18 SOA coordinators in Tarlac for the conduct of School-on-the-Air on Smart Rice Agriculture (SOA-SRA) results evaluation study in the region.

The respondents for this study were rice farmers in Tarlac who graduated from SOA-SRA in CY 2022 and the SOA coordinators tapped from the LGUs and partner institutions who were directly involved in the program implementation. The said program was implemented on July 2, 2022 until November 4, 2022 in Tarlac.

The said program has been implemented in the region since 2021 to intensify the information dissemination about technologies and best practices on smart rice farming. Through improving farmers’ access to rice farming information, they could effectively cultivate their full potentials, thereby improve their livelihood as well as increase their production.

To assess the effectiveness of the School-on-the-Air on Smart Rice Agriculture (SOA-SRA) program as a distance learning program catering to a wide range of rice farmers in the country, a results evaluation needs to be conducted.

The study is part of the overall evaluation of the said program nationwide. The results are expected to be released in December this year.
