CETNRAL VISAYAS. The AgriTalk 2022: Corn Production Technologies, a webinar series on the latest corn production technologies dubbed as CORNversations spearheaded by the Agricultural Training Institute-Central Visayas (ATI-CV), reached more than 150 participants including farmers, fishers, youth, and women, among others, on June 28-30, 2022 aired via ATI-Central Visayas’ Facebook Page.
The 3-day webinar series aimed to (1) Explain the different cultural management practices in corn production; (2) Discuss the various growth stages of the corn plant; (3) Identify the major pests and diseases of corn and apply measures to manage and control them; (4) Describe the different harvest and postharvest operations for corn; and (5) Describe or talk about the best practices of corn-farmer in the region.
Mr. Jeffrey Awas, #ATICentralVisayas Licensed Agriculturist/Corn Focal Person discussed the Status of Directions of the Corn Industry in the Philippines. In addition, Mr. Jayrell Gamayon-Dapar Adanza, Municipal Agriculturist of LGU - Dimiao, Bohol talked about Corn Production Technology. Furthermore, Mr. Ursulo V. Taganahan, a Learning Site Cooperator of #ATICentralVisayas in Dimiao, Bohol, highlighted the best practices of Corn-Farmer on the third day.
The activity is the 1st batch of AgriTalk conducted this year; the 2nd batch is scheduled in July 2022 which will feature high-value crops. Started in 2020, AgriTalk is a webinar series that focuses on the latest agricultural technologies. (by Shanemie Carelle Daquio-Pradera)
