Cebu City - ATI Central Visayas, in collaboration with Green Gardens of Hope (GGH) – a Learning Site for Agriculture in Bohol—concluded a one-day seminar on Seed Banking for Heirloom Seeds on February 21, 2025, at the Cebu City Jail Female Dormitory. The seminar was attended by 30 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) participants.

It is worth noting that on January 29, 2024, ATI-7 and GGH signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the "Heirloom Harvest: A Sustainable Legacy for Nutritious Food Security" project. This initiative is part of ATI-7's National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP). Following the successful implementation of the project in the Bohol District Jail (BDJ) Female Dormitory in Tagbilaran City and BDJ Ubay, ATI-7 decided to expand the project to Cebu province this year.

The resource persons for the seminar were Engr. Emmanuel Gamonez, the proprietor of GGH, and Ms. Genevieve Abella of the Cebu City Agriculture Development Office. The topics covered included containerized gardening and tower garden technology.

The program is expected to generate heirloom seeds that can be saved and replanted in the future, allowing for continued reproduction and growth while providing additional food and therapeutic/ skill-building platform for the PDLs.
