Central Visayas – A total of 7 newly established and enhanced Farmers Information Technology Services (FITS) Centers and Kiosks were launched in the province of Negros Oriental and Bohol in June – July this year.
FITS Center is a one-stop service facility accessible to farmers, entrepreneurs, and other clients. It provides fast access to information and technologies in forms appropriate to the client's needs. While the FITS kiosk serves as an extension/ satellite facility of the FITS Centers, its main function is to provide ready access to IEC materials & services for farmers and other clients within the community.
Each FITS Center received laptops, pocket wifi/modems, printers, tablets, and Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment. This equipment will soon be used for farm planning, field mapping, soil sampling, tractor guidance, crop scouting, and other kits that would enhance the production of farmers and agri-enthusiasts. Additionally, they were given bookshelves and Information, Education, and Communication materials.
Recipients for the FITS Center Establishment in Negros Oriental were the Municipal Agriculture Office of Tayasan and City Agriculture of Tanjay which was turnover on July 18 & 19, 2024. Municipalities of Sibulan, Mabinay completed their turnover on June 26 while Valencia followed on July 19, 2024. Meanwhile, FITS Kiosk of Dreamers and Balloca Farms in Ubay, Bohol launched their FITS kiosk on July 16, 2024.

Through this project, it will help our farmers and fishermen improve and increase their yields, said Kimuel Tabio, FITS Manager of the newly established FITS Tanjay, Tanjay City.
