Ubay, Bohol – The Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center (ATI-7) recently conducted a Trainers of Training on Small Ruminants at the Ubay Stock Farm in Ubay, Bohol, from March 10-14, 2025. The training program aimed to empower 25 Livestock/AI Technicians and goat raisers from Central Visayas with critical knowledge and skills in Artificial Insemination (AI) through Estrous Synchronization.
The training provided participants with essential tools to improve goat breeding practices, with a special focus on enhancing productivity and overcoming common breeding issues.
Two key experts led the sessions:
Dr. Raul P. Migrino, the retired Chief of the Regulatory Division of DA-RFO VII, provided an in-depth analysis of the application of AI in goats, discussing its profound impact on productivity and introducing best management practices and strategies to resolve breeding challenges.
Dr. Carl Leonard M. Pradera, OIC City Veterinarian of Tagbilaran City, focused on trends in disease occurrence and control management for goats, equipping participants with the necessary knowledge to prevent and control common diseases affecting small ruminants.
The training was managed by Mr. Jun Alguin B. Oliver, Information Officer II, as the Project Officer, with Ms. Danelyn A. Enero assisting as Technical Support Staff. The event was designed not only to enhance participants' technical skills but also to foster better livestock management practices across the region.
This initiative is a vital step toward improving the breeding and management of small ruminants in Central Visayas, ensuring higher productivity and healthier livestock for local farmers.
