A group of thirty senior citizens from Talisay City actively participated in the Age Gracefully: A Health and Wellness Training for Senior Citizens held from March 12-14, 2025. The three-day event aimed to improve the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of senior citizens in adopting a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
The program focused on several key topics that are vital for the well-being of senior citizens:
- Understanding the roles, rights, privileges, and benefits afforded to senior citizens
- The importance of lifestyle medicine and proper nutrition
- How to live a healthy life in a challenging environment
- The benefits of consuming healthy juices and the preparation of nutritious beverages and meals
The training was led by Training Specialist II, Mr. Jorge F. Trinidad, with the support of Technical Support Staff I, Lurlyn Caga.
The event also featured a group of passionate trainers:
- Ma. Reina P. Perez, LSA Cooperator, and Resto Cafe Shop Owner
- Maria Socorro A. Trinidad, Retired Government Employee
- Amelia C. Kiamko, Federation President
- Maria Asuncion A. Jalad, Physician
- Merigine C. Otara, Planning Officer II
Throughout the training, participants refreshed their knowledge about the roles and benefits available to them as senior citizens, while also gaining new insights into lifestyle and culinary medicine. They learned how to prepare simple and nutritious meals, including healthy juices and vegetable salads, which they can easily incorporate into their daily routines.
After the program, each participant submitted a re-entry plan outlining how they would apply the knowledge and skills they gained. These plans will be monitored over the next six months to ensure long-term success and positive health outcomes.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to empower senior citizens in Talisay City to live healthier, more fulfilling lives as they age.
