A three-day training on Integrated Pests and Diseases Management in Vegetable Crops was held in Marbeshen Inn, Poblacion, Carmen, Bohol on May 9-11, 2023. The training aimed to equip and enhance the knowledge, and skills of 22 agricultural extension workers and farmer-leaders from different municipalities in the provinces of Bohol and Cebu.

The training covered several enabling objectives, including discussing the principles and methods of Integrated Pests Management (IPM), enumerating the objectives and components of IPM, explaining the concepts of IPM, elaborating the advantages and disadvantages of IPM, demonstrating Agro-Ecosystem Analysis, executing the integrated pests and diseases management in vegetable crops, and crafting a doable re-entry plan.

Among the participants was Winah Louie B. Bayron, an AEW from LGU-Candijay, Bohol, who shared her experience as a first-timer in joining training. She praised the facilitators for being approachable, welcoming, and making the training fun and enjoyable. She also expressed gratitude to her co-participants for sharing their knowledge and experiences as farmers and new AEW.

Another participant, Jema W. Requina, an EAW from LGU-Argao, Cebu City, expressed her appreciation to the training and how it helped her gain a lot of knowledge about Integrated Pests and Diseases Management in vegetable crops, as well as actual Agro-ecosystem Analysis. She also praised the resource person for being a brilliant speaker and for effectively conveying knowledge and information to the participants.

Gualberto Languita, a farmer leader from the Vegetable Growers Association in Carmen also shared his insights on the training, calling it a big help for them as farmers. He praised Mam Marina, the resource person, for being approachable and nice. He also commended the participants, saying they were nice and friendly.

Overall, the training successfully achieved its goal of equipping and enhancing the knowledge, and skills of the participants on integrated pests and diseases management in vegetable production. It also provided a platform for knowledge-sharing among participants from different municipalities and provinces.
