TAGBILARAN CITY, BOHOL -- Agricultural Training Institute-Central Visayas (ATI-CV) launches the Information Caravan on Coconut Farmers Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) at Bohol Cultural Center, Tagbilaran City, Bohol on August 17, 2022.
The CFIDP was drafted following the signing of Republic Act 11524, better known as the Coconut Farmers and Industry Fund Act, by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on February 26, 2021. The plan was approved through Executive Order 172, which was signed on June 2, 2022.
The CFIDP seeks to reduce poverty, advance social fairness, and revive and modernize the Philippine coconut sector. It also aspires to boost the income and productivity of the nation's 2.5 million coconut growers.
Coconut growers must be enrolled in the National Coconut Farmers' Registry System to take advantage of the CFIDP's many projects (NCFRS).
Members who are tenants or tenant-workers, farm employees or labourers, and coconut producers who own at least 0.5 hectares of land and at least 20 coconut trees are all eligible.
The event was co-hosted by the Provincial Government of Bohol under the leadership of Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado and the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Region VII.
Moreover, the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Administrator Benjamin R. Madrigal, Jr. graced the event.
A total of 50 participants including farmers, fishers, youth, and women, among others, participated in the activity.
