Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental – The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Central Visayas successfully hosted a two-day planning workshop titled "Collaborate to Elevate: A Harmonization Session" on February 6-7, 2025, at the SB Multipurpose Hall in Dumaguete City. The event, which brought together 40 partner agencies, focused on enhancing the cooperation, collaboration, and convergence of the Negros Oriental Agriculture and Fishery Extension Centers (NOAFEC) in planning and implementing key agricultural and fishery extension activities for Fiscal Year 2025.

The primary goal of the workshop was to develop a comprehensive operational plan for the agri-fishery sector in the province. Attendees worked on identifying and refining convergence programs and projects that will be carried out through strong inter-agency collaboration. These initiatives are expected to address key challenges and promote sustainable growth in agriculture and fisheries in Negros Oriental.

Among the significant outcomes of the workshop was the assignment of lead agencies for specific convergence projects. The Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) and Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) were designated as the focal points for overseeing these projects, with support from national agencies such as DOST, DTI, NFA, and ACPC. The Core Group formed during the session will be responsible for finalizing plans and ensuring the successful implementation of the identified projects.

Another important resolution was the preparation of a directory of stakeholders and the Core Group members for effective coordination and execution of convergence activities. The workshop also emphasized the importance of continued support from various government agencies, and if feasible, the DA-RFO7 or ATI7 will provide the necessary funding and venue for upcoming Core Group meetings.

“We are optimistic that this collaborative approach will result in more impactful programs and projects for the agri-fishery sectors in Negros Oriental. Through stronger partnerships and shared resources, we can achieve sustainable growth and development,” said Merigine C. Otara, ATI-7 Planning Officer, who spearheaded the event with the assistance of Ms. Lurlyn Caga.

This planning workshop marks another step in ATI Central Visayas’ ongoing efforts to improve agricultural and fishery extension services in the region, supporting local farmers and fisherfolk as they work toward a more prosperous and resilient future.
