REGIONWIDE. For many tropical regions, coconut harvesting is a key source of income. Many farmers rely on it, and likewise supports adjacent sectors like food processing, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.

Because practically every part of the coconut tree can be used, thus referred to as the "tree of life". A wide variety of goods can be made from coconuts, such as copra, coconut milk, coconut water, coconut oil, and other byproducts. The industry benefits economically from this diversity.

Moreover, a large number of people can find work in the coconut industry, from field laborers to those who process and sell goods.

In this regard, a Training of Trainers (TOT) on Coconut Farm Business School (FBS) was held at Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC) Cocohub, Barangay Colonia, Tuburan, Cebu on July 17-27, 2023 with 27 participants from across the region composed of Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs), farm owners, and other agriculture enthusiast.

The training aimed to enhanced the participants knowledge and skills on coconut production to be able to deliver topics effectively and efficiently as trainers of the Farm Business School for Farmer Level.

“Ang akoa gyud nga ikasulti as a field personnel sa Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) from Negros Oriental, daghang salamat ATI nga usa ko sa nakaapil aning maong training kay dako gyud kayo ug nakat-onan nga makatabang namo maong ahua gyung paningkamotan nga mapaambit nako kin sa uban labi na sa mga farmers sa Negros Oriental.
