Digi Agri Hacki to roll out in CALABARZON, empower youth for digital solutions in agrifishery

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite - To harness the youth participation as a key driver in advancing and digitizing agriculture and fisheries (AF) in the country, the Department of Agriculture- Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) is set to launch “Agri-Tech Innovate: Accelerating Digital Solutions for Sustainable Agriculture and Fisheries.” Also known as the Digi Agri Hacki, this initiative is designed to help address various challenges within the AF sector through innovation and digitization.

This year, four pilot sites have been identified for the project launch, including the CALABARZON region.

The pre-acceleration project will be conducted in three phases: Phase 1 will consist of a series of ideation workshops; Phase 2 will involve a boot camp or mentoring sessions; and Phase 3 will conclude with a demo day and awarding ceremony.

It will be mainly implemented in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s ICT Industry Development Bureau (DICT-IIDB) as the lead agency in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of ICT Industry programs, particularly the Digital Cities Program and the Digital Startup Development and Acceleration Program (DSDAP). Other industry partners and stakeholders will also be involved in the project.

The project is open to:

  • College students currently enrolled in courses on agriculture, fisheries, computer science, engineering, data science, environmental studies, or related fields;
  • Form a team of 2-3 members, along with a mentor or school representative; and
  • With proficiency in coding, design, data analysis and/or knowledge in agriculture and fisheries.
