BATANGAS CITY, Batangas - DA-ATI CALABARZON, in partnership with Conservation International – Philippines (CIP), United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Climate Resilient Communities, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), and Batangas City Agriculturist Office, formally launched the “Climate Resilient Farmer Field School (CRFFS) for Corn.”

The said project aims to improve the integration of agriculture development and climate responsiveness and achieve food security and broader development goals under changing climate and increasing food demand, specifically to assist the City Government of Batangas in achieving climate-resilient corn production. Moreover, the projects will benefit the farmers and leaders of the Local Government Unit (LGU) in developing their technical and scientific capabilities to grow corn and other crops while utilizing appropriate farming technologies.

Dr. Rolando V. Maningas, Center Director of DA-ATI CALABARZON; Mr. Michael Lalap, OIC-APCO of Batangas; Ms. Flora C. Alvarez, Batangas City Agriculturist; and Mr. Wilbur G. Dee, Natural Climate Solutions Director of Conservation International Philippines, gave their messages of gratitude and support for the program.

The CRFFS will run for 18 weeks and will benefit thirty (30) farmers from Batangas City Corn Growers Association (BCCGA).

Also, corn farmers and farmer-leaders were present during the activity and witnessed the ceremony at Batangas Country Club last August 2, 2024.
