ATI CALABARZON empowers 30 farm owners & leaders to establish FBS in local communities

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – The Department of Agriculture capacity-building arm, Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in CALABARZON, empowered 30 farm owners and leaders from Region IV-A and Region II with knowledge and skills in establishing Farm Business School (FBS) in their respective communities.

Through the second batch of “Training of Facilitators on Farm Business School” for 2024 held on July 10-19, aforementioned participants delved into farm business management to guide them in developing their farms and showcasing different technologies and management strategies that can also help other farmers improve their income.

DA-ATI CALABARZON partnered with Villar Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Government (Villar SIPAG) Farm School for the conduct of the said training.

Employing group discussions, workshops, practicum sessions, and field visits, participants were able to supplement their learnings on the Good Agricultural Practices for Farm Business, Farm Business Profitability, Keeping Records, Art of Negotiation, Developing a Business Plan, and Farm Tourism Enterprise, among others.

It can be recalled that the DA-ATI CALABARZON conducted the first batch of the said training for this year last March 18-27 this year through the Partnerships and Accreditation Section.

During the closing program on July 19, DA-ATI CALABARZON Asst. Center Dir. Sherylou C. Alfaro graced the ceremony and congratulated the 30 completers.

Greetings and messages of support were also delivered by OIC-Regional Executive Dir. Fidel L. Libao through Mr. Ruben Perlas, Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer for Cavite; Regional Dir. Baron Jose Lagran of TESDA CALABARZON through Miss Mary Katherine L. Casauran, representative from TESDA Cavite; and Sen. Cynthia A. Villar, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food.
