ATI trains new breed of community broadcasters

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite- DA bureau, Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Regional Training Center in CALABARZON led the second batch of Hitting the Airwaves: Training on Basic Radio and Online Broadcasting geared towards capacitating national agency partners, information officers and extension workers on radio and online programming.

Hitting the Airwaves intends to produce a new breed of community broadcasters that will utilize radio and online platforms in delivering extension services on agri-fishery extension. The training also prepared program partners of DA-ATI CALABARZON, particularly PCA IV technical team in handling the School-on-the Air (SOA) program this FY 2024 as program co-host and and segment hosts.

25 participants from National Irrigation (NIA) Region IV-A, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) IV-A, DA Regional Field Office IV-A, State Universities and Colleges, Farmers and Information Technology Services (FITS) Centers, and Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) underwent a series of workshops on newswriting, program development, broadcast delivery and simulation of their own radio/online program during the four-day training.

Ms. Danna Dael from NIA IV-A shares her experience during the training, “Ito ay pasimula pa lang ng bagong challenge sa bawat isa [on] how we will inform our clients lalo yung ating magsasaka, mga estudyante paano natin sila mabibigyan ng tamang impormasyon ng ating mga serbisyo. From NIA region IV-A po maraming maraming salamat po muli sa aking mga kasama sa iba’t ibang kasama nawa ay hindi dito natatapos ang ating connection.”

By the end of the training, participants were also tasked to plan their courses of action on how to utilize the skills they gained from the training through an action/re-entry plan. The training was held from March 12-15, 2024 at 4H Hub Training Hall, DA-ATI CALABARZON in this city.
