DILIMAN, Quezon City – After completing the Pre-Departure Orientation Course (PDOC) for the Filipino Young Farmers Internship Program in Taiwan (FYFIPT) Batch 2025, four young farmers from CALABARZON flew to Taiwan on November 12 for the 11-month intensive immersion into various agricultural competencies.

Last November 11, the DA-Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Central Office sent off 50 young farmers across the country; among these were Cherry Huerra (Indang, Cavite), Phia Paula Dejesa (Naic, Cavite), Angeli Grace Ilao (Nasugbu, Batangas), and Dan Renbert Ferma (Mendez, Cavite).

On the other hand, Jade Destasura (Indang, Cavite), a successful intern under the FYFIPT Batch 2024, received an additional 150,000-peso grant after placing first in the Outstanding Agribusiness Proposals of FYFIPT Batch 3 Graduates for his project Bokchoy Production.

Prior to this, Destasura was assigned to Jian Township Hualien Country for 11 months, focusing on organic vegetable production.

The FYFIPT is a partnership between the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines (TECO) to enhance existing relations through the implementation of an internship program for qualified young Filipino farmers.

The said program consists of knowledge and skills acquisition through the exchange of modern agricultural and fisheries techniques, marketing strategies and mechanisms, cooperative management, and enhancement of competencies, discipline, and values.
